Özgün Oktay, MD

Whether a surgical or non-surgical option is appropriate is discussed with the patient after a clinical examination, and the possible benefits and limitations of each option are explained in a measured way.

How Dr. Oktay works with international patients

Dr. Oktay consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example previous eye examination records, laboratory results, operative notes, and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the visit to the clinic. A first consultation with Dr. Oktay typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing records and previous treatments, a clinical eye examination, and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling or to follow up on an earlier visit, although some aspects of an ophthalmological assessment can only be completed in person.
