Prof. Dr. Özgür Çetik

Prof. Dr. Özgür Çetik is an Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology specialist at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul, where he works within the Orthopedics & Joint Center. His clinical work covers foot and ankle surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery, sports medicine and sports traumatology, pediatric orthopedics, and pediatric hand and upper-extremity surgery. He has more than 31 years of experience in medicine.

Dr. Çetik graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1995 and worked as a research assistant in the university’s Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology from 1996 to 2000, completing his specialty training in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 2000. He then practiced as a specialist physician at Private Avrasya Hospital, İstanbul (2001–2002), followed by posts at Diyarbakır 600-bed Military Hospital and Bingöl SSK Hospital (2002–2003). From 2002 to 2007 he was a faculty member at Kırıkkale University Faculty of Medicine Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, became an Associate Professor in 2007, and continued there as a faculty member and Associate Professor from 2008 to 2011. He has worked within Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2011. His published research includes studies on tendon repair techniques, tibial plateau fractures, arthroscopic chondroplasty, recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation and distal radius malunion, appearing in journals such as Foot Ankle Int. and Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy.

Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Çetik’s practice is devoted to foot and ankle surgery, including diabetic foot surgery and Charcot foot surgery. He also performs hip and knee replacement surgery and treats knee and joint injuries, including those arising from sport, within the field of sports medicine and sports traumatology.

His work on the upper limb includes shoulder and elbow surgery. In children, he provides pediatric orthopedic care as well as pediatric hand surgery and pediatric upper-extremity surgery. Treatment recommendations depend on the individual assessment, and not every patient will be a candidate for surgery.

How Dr. Çetik works with international patients

Dr. Çetik consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their case before deciding whether to travel.
