Prof. Özmen Öztürk, MD

Prof. Özmen Öztürk, MD is an otorhinolaryngology (ENT) specialist with a subspecialty in head and neck surgery. He practices in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit of Acibadem Kartal Hospital in İstanbul. With more than 30 years in medicine, his clinical work spans ear, nose and throat conditions, head and neck surgery, sleep disorders and balance disorders.

Dr. Öztürk graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and completed his specialty training in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. He remained at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine from 2001 to 2004, then joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2004 and worked at Acıbadem Kozyatağı Hospital until 2010. He subsequently held academic positions at İstanbul Medipol University Faculty of Medicine (2010–2015 and 2018–2025) and Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine (2015–2018). He is a member of the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery Association, the Facial Plastic Surgery Association, the Otoloji Nörotoloji Association (ONO-DER), the İstanbul ENT-HNS Specialists Association, the Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery Association and the Whole Face Association. His published work includes studies on the endoscopic endonasal management of cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea, the surgical management of barosinusitis in scuba divers, a comparison of endoscopic and curettage adenoidectomy, surgery versus medical treatment in PFAPA syndrome, and tissue engineering of a tympanic membrane graft.

Clinical focus

Dr. Öztürk’s practice covers head and neck surgery, including the evaluation and surgical treatment of head and neck cancers. In nasal and sinus surgery he performs septoplasty, rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty, procedures that address nasal breathing, deviation of the septum and the external shape of the nose. His otologic work includes middle ear surgery and the assessment of vertigo and balance disorders.

He also sees patients with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea and insomnia, and performs tonsillectomy when indicated. Treatment decisions are made individually after examination; not every patient is a candidate for surgery, and non-surgical options are discussed where appropriate.

How Dr. Öztürk works with international patients

Dr. Öztürk consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the hospital’s international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
