Prof. Pervin İşeri, MD

Prof. Pervin İşeri, MD is a neurologist who joined Acibadem Health Group in 2025 and works in its Neurology unit. She has more than 33 years in medicine. Her clinical work centers on movement disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, Parkinson’s plus syndromes and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as botulinum toxin treatment for hemifacial spasm.

Dr. İşeri graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1993 and then worked from 1993 to 1997 as a general practitioner at the Isparta Center health center during her compulsory service. From 1998 to 2002 she was a research assistant (Dr.Ar.Assist.) at Faculty of Medicine Kocaeli University, and in 2002 she completed her specialization in Neurology at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. She remained at Faculty of Medicine Kocaeli University, first as Specialist Dr. and later as Assoc. Prof. Dr. (2006–2012) and Prof. Dr. (2012–2019). In 2005 she spent time at Yale University Medical School Movement Disorders Department- Botulinum toxin treatment clinic-USA. In 2011 she obtained the Medical Specialization Board in Clinical Neurophysiology, and from 2019 to 2021 she was Prof. Dr. at Faculty of Medicine Atlas University. She is a member of the Turkish Neurology Association, the Parkinson’s Association of Turkey, the Movement Disorders Society, the Neurodegenerative Diseases Association and the Kocaeli Medical Chamber, a full member of the European Neurological Association, a member of the Eskişehir Branch of Alzheimer’s Association of Turkey, and serves on the Kocaeli Alzheimer’s Association Advisory Board.

Clinical focus

Dr. İşeri evaluates and treats patients with movement disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. This includes Parkinson’s disease, Parkinson’s plus syndromes and corticobasal degeneration, as well as Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive deficits after COVID-19. She also sees patients with hemifacial spasm, for whom she performs botulinum neurotoxin injections, and patients with multiple sclerosis relapses and seizure disorders.

Her published work reflects these areas. She has co-authored reviews on Parkinson’s plus syndromes and corticobasal degeneration and on current treatments for Alzheimer’s disease (Türkiye Klinikleri, 2021), a study evaluating cognitive deficits in patients infected with COVID-19 (Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci, 2022), and a report on the clinical correlation of MRI-tractography findings in hemifacial spasm patients injected with botulinum neurotoxin (Neurology India). Earlier publications address treatment in relapses of multiple sclerosis, a compound-heterozygous Parkin mutation in Parkinson’s disease, and insulinoma in the differential diagnosis of seizure disorder.

How Dr. İşeri works with international patients

Dr. İşeri consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. For patients abroad, a video consultation can be arranged before travel so that the case can be discussed in advance.
