Prof. Dr. Salih Marangoz

Prof. Dr. Salih Marangoz is a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery & Traumatology with a subspecialty in Pediatric Orthopedics. He sees patients at the Orthopedics & Joint Center of Acibadem Maslak Hospital and Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul. With more than 26 years in medicine, his clinical work centers on pediatric orthopedics, deformity correction surgery, limb lengthening, and pediatric hand and upper-extremity surgery.

Dr. Marangoz graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2000 and completed his Orthopedics and Traumatology specialty training there in 2005. He then trained in the United States as a visiting physician in pediatric orthopedics at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Division of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, Baltimore (2005–2006), as a clinical fellow in pediatric orthopedics at New York University, Hospital for Joint Diseases, Center for Children, Department of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, New York (2006–2007), and as chief clinical fellow in deformity correction and limb lengthening surgery at The International Center for Limb Lengthening, Rubin Institute For Advanced Orthopedics, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore (2007–2008). He holds the Turkish Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology Diploma (2010, recertified 2024) and the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EBOT) Diploma (FEBOT, 2015). He became an associate professor at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2012 and a professor at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine in 2019. He served as a faculty member at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara (2009–2014) and at Koç University Faculty of Medicine, working at Koç University Hospital and Amerikan Hospital in İstanbul (2014–2017), and worked at Memorial Şişli Hospital before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2017. In 2024–2025 he worked at Karolinska University Hospital, Department of Pediatric Orthopedics, Stockholm, Sweden. He is a founding member of the Pediatric Orthopedics Association, an active member and former board member of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society, a corresponding member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society, and a member of the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association and the Hip Preservation Surgery Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Marangoz evaluates and treats children and young people with congenital and acquired orthopedic conditions. His areas of expertise include clubfoot (pes equinovarus), deformity correction surgery, and limb lengthening, as well as spinal conditions, pediatric hand and upper-extremity surgery, spasticity in children, trauma, and joint disorders. Treatment options are discussed with attention to the patient’s condition, age, functional needs, and treatment goals.

He has authored peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics including femoral deformity correction in children and young adults using the Taylor Spatial Frame, correction of arthrogrypotic clubfoot with a modified Ponseti technique, physeal injuries, malunions and nonunions in the lower extremity, and joint-sparing surgical techniques in adolescent hip problems.

How Dr. Marangoz works with international patients

Dr. Marangoz consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as X-ray, MRI or CT reports, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients.
