Dr. Savaş Gündoğan

Dr. Savaş Gündoğan is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where he has practiced since 2022. He has more than 15 years in medicine. His clinical work centers on urogynecology, menopause, urinary incontinence and bladder health, endometriosis, sexual dysfunction, menstrual irregularities, premenstrual syndrome, cervical and ovarian cancer, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including vNOTES scarless surgery and vaginal laparoscopy.

Dr. Gündoğan completed his internship at İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center in 2011–2012 and graduated from İnönü University Faculty of Medicine in 2012. He then worked as an assistant physician in the Department of Urology at Erzincan University Faculty of Medicine and, in 2013, as a general practitioner at Erzincan Devlet Hospital during his compulsory service. From 2013 to 2014 he was an assistant physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, and in 2016–2017 he served as a visiting assistant physician at Universita Degli Studi dellInsubria in Varese, Italy. He completed his specialty training in 2019 at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Faculty of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His experience as a specialist physician includes Sultanbeyli Devlet Hospital (2014–2019) and Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital (2019–2022). He is a member of the Turkish Gynecology and Obstetrics Association-İstanbul, the Minimally Invasive Gynecology Association, the Controversial Issues in Gynecology and Obstetrics Association, and the In Vitro Fertilization and Infertility Association (TUBIT). He has co-authored publications in journals including J Minim Invasive Gynecol and JSLS on topics such as pain management after laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic and robotic myomectomy, single-port surgery, and laparoscopic abdominal cerclage.

Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Gündoğan’s practice involves urogynecology, including the assessment of urinary incontinence and other bladder health concerns, as well as care for women in and around menopause. He also treats endometriosis, sexual dysfunction, menstrual irregularities, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). His areas of expertise further include gynecologic cancers, specifically cervical cancer and ovarian cancer.

In surgery, Dr. Gündoğan applies minimally invasive approaches, including vaginal laparoscopy and vNOTES scarless surgery, in which the procedure is performed through the vagina. Whether a minimally invasive approach is appropriate depends on the individual diagnosis, prior treatments, and examination findings, and is discussed with each patient after review of her case.

How Dr. Gündoğan works with international patients

Dr. Gündoğan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound, MRI or CT reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes, and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options.
