Dr. Şenay Ağırgöl

Dr. Şenay Ağırgöl is a dermatologist at Acibadem International Hospital (İstanbul), where she works in the Dermatology unit. Her practice covers both general and cosmetic dermatology. Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Ağırgöl’s work involves inflammatory and infectious skin disease. She sees patients with eczema (atopic dermatitis), skin infections and athlete’s foot, and she assesses children with urticaria. She also follows patients with Behçet’s disease, a condition that can involve the skin and mucous membranes and that she has studied in her research. Sunburn and its after-effects are a further area of her clinical practice. In each case, the approach depends on the patient’s history, the clinical examination and, where needed, further tests.

Her procedural and cosmetic work includes mole removal, pigmentation treatment, gold needle treatment, botulinum toxin applications and hyperhidrosis treatment for excessive sweating. She also advises on skin care. Whether a given procedure is appropriate is decided individually after examination, and Dr. Ağırgöl discusses the expected course, possible side effects and alternatives with the patient before any treatment is planned.

How Dr. Ağırgöl works with international patients

Dr. Ağırgöl consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and relevant records, such as previous dermatology notes, laboratory and pathology results, photographs of skin lesions where available, and discharge summaries, and it arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of previous treatments and any existing test results, a clinical examination of the skin, and a discussion of the possible options. For patients who cannot travel immediately, a video consultation can be arranged as an initial step, although a physical examination is usually needed before a final treatment decision is made.
