Prof. Dr. Süleyman Çetinkünar

Prof. Dr. Süleyman Çetinkünar is a general surgeon at Acibadem Adana Hospital and Acibadem Adana Orthopedia Hospital in Adana, where he works within the Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery and General Surgery units. Dr. Çetinkünar graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2003 and completed his residency in General Surgery at Ankara Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital in 2008. Clinical focus

Dr. Çetinkünar evaluates and treats a range of conditions of the digestive system. In colorectal and anorectal surgery, he sees patients with hemorrhoids and other anorectal conditions, as well as inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. His colorectal work also includes colorectal cancer surgery. He performs hernia surgery and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, and endocrine surgery is a further part of his practice. Endoscopy is used in the assessment of digestive conditions where clinically indicated.

In the Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery unit, he performs obesity surgery, including gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. Depending on the individual clinical situation, procedures may be planned using open, laparoscopic, endoscopic, or robotic surgical approaches; robotic surgery is one of his subspecialty areas. Whether surgery is appropriate, and which approach is suitable, is decided only after a clinical assessment of each patient and a review of their existing findings.

How Dr. Çetinkünar works with international patients

Dr. Çetinkünar consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes, and discharge summaries. The team also arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the available options.
