Türkan Subaşıoğlu, DDS

Türkan Subaşıoğlu, DDS is a dentist in the Dental & Oral Health unit at Acibadem International Hospital in İstanbul. Her practice is centered on periodontology, the branch of dentistry concerned with the gums and the tissues that support the teeth. She has more than 29 years of experience in dentistry and sees patients with gum disease, implant-related gum problems and a range of other oral health concerns.

Dr. Subaşıoğlu graduated from İstanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 1997. From 1999 to 2005 she worked as a research assistant in the İstanbul University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Periodontology, and in 2011 she completed her periodontology training at İstanbul University Health Sciences Institute. In 2023 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. She is a member of the Turkish Periodontology Association and has held a board membership of Turk – Dentsic (Turkish Dental Students’ Association). Her published and presented work addresses the regenerative treatment of interproximal intrabony defects, including guided tissue regeneration with bioabsorbable polylactic acid barriers, bone grafting and platelet rich plasma.

Clinical focus

Dr. Subaşıoğlu assesses and treats conditions of the gums and surrounding tissues. These include gingivitis, gum bleeding, gum enlargement, gum abscess, oral sores and bad breath, which can be related to gum inflammation or other oral causes. She provides periodontal laser treatment and treats peri-implantitis, an inflammatory condition affecting the gum and bone around a dental implant. Treatment planning depends on the clinical examination and, where needed, dental imaging, and is discussed with the patient before any procedure is proposed.

Her work also covers general dental procedures. She places dental implants, performs tooth extraction and provides dental fillings. In addition, she carries out gum aesthetics procedures for patients concerned about the appearance of the gum line. Whether a particular procedure is appropriate is determined individually after examination.

How Dr. Subaşıoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Subaşıoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as dental X-rays, CT reports, laboratory results and notes on previous treatments, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous dental work, a clinical examination of the teeth and gums, and a discussion of the possible options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before travelling; a final treatment plan is usually confirmed after an in-person examination.
