Prof. Ülkü Noyan, DDS

Prof. Ülkü Noyan, DDS is an Oral & Dental Health specialist with a focus on periodontology. She practises in the Dental & Oral Health unit at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul and has more than 50 years in medicine. Dr. Noyan studied at İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine from 1976 to 1983. She then trained in periodontology at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry and Health Sciences Institute, where she was a doctoral student and research assistant in the Department of Periodontology from 1984 to 1989, completing her periodontology training at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1989.

Her academic career continued at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology, where she worked as a lecturer from 1991 to 1992 and as an assistant associate professor from 1992 to 1995. In 1995 she became a faculty member and associate professor at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry Health Sciences Institute, and in 1999 she joined Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry as a faculty member in the Department of Periodontology. She has been with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2000. Dr. Noyan is a member of the Chamber of Dentists, the International Academy Of Periodontology and the Turkish Periodontology Association. Her published work includes articles in the Journal Of Periodontology (1999) on microbiologic features and crevicular fluid aspartate aminotransferase enzyme activity in early onset periodontitis patients, in the Journal Of Clinical Periodontology (1997) on systemic and local metronidazole delivery in adult periodontitis patients, and a case report in the Hacettepe University Journal of Dentistry (1999) on the retreatment of an old adhesive restoration.

Clinical focus

Dr. Noyan’s clinical work centres on the health of the gums and the tissues that support the teeth and dental implants. She sees patients with periodontal disease, gum bleeding, gum abscess and gum recession, as well as those with bad breath or oral sores. She also treats peri-implantitis, an inflammatory condition affecting the tissues around dental implants.

Procedures within her practice include dental scaling, laser gum treatment and gum aesthetics. For patients concerned about excessive gum display when smiling, she offers gummy smile Botox treatment. Which approach is appropriate depends on the findings of the clinical examination and the patient’s individual situation, and the options are discussed with each patient before any treatment is planned.

How Dr. Noyan works with international patients

Dr. Noyan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
