Yelda Ertürk, MD

Yelda Ertürk, MD is an ophthalmologist at Acibadem Bursa Hospital in Bursa, where she works within the Ophthalmology unit. She has more than 33 years of experience in medicine, the greater part of it spent in ophthalmology practice in Bursa.

Dr. Ertürk graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1993 and completed her specialty training at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital Department of Ophthalmology in 1997. During her training years, from 1993 to 1997, she worked at S.B. Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital. She then practised at Bursa Devlet Hospital from 1997 to 2019 and at Bursa Şehir Hospital from 2019 to 2023 before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2023. She is a member of the Türk Oftalmoloji Association and the Turkish Medical Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Ertürk assesses and manages a range of conditions affecting the front and back of the eye. Her areas of expertise include astigmatism, a refractive condition in which the shape of the cornea or lens leads to blurred or distorted vision, and blepharitis, an inflammatory condition of the eyelid margins. In each case, the approach depends on the findings of the eye examination and the individual patient’s symptoms and needs.

She also cares for children with eye conditions. Paediatric eye diseases and amblyopia, sometimes referred to as lazy eye, form part of her practice, and assessment in younger patients is adapted to the child’s age and ability to cooperate with testing. In addition, Dr. Ertürk evaluates patients with retinal tears and retinal detachment, conditions in which timely examination of the retina is important so that suitable options can be discussed. Any recommendation regarding treatment is made after a clinical examination and a review of the relevant findings.

How Dr. Ertürk works with international patients

Dr. Ertürk consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as previous eye examination reports, imaging studies, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination of the eyes and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation with Dr. Ertürk before deciding whether to travel, with the understanding that a full eye examination in person may still be needed to complete the assessment.
