Prof. Yılmaz Büyükuncu, MD is a General Surgery specialist at Acibadem International Hospital in İstanbul. How Dr. Büyükuncu works with international patients

Dr. Büyükuncu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, endoscopy findings where available, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the possible options. For international patients who are not yet able to travel, a video consultation with Dr. Büyükuncu can be arranged; this allows an initial review of the medical history and existing documents, although some findings can only be confirmed through an in-person examination and further investigations in the hospital. Any recommendation for surgery, including for hernias, thyroid disease, gallbladder inflammation or anorectal conditions, is made only after this individual assessment.
