In short

Across 75 tracked procedures in Q3 2026, Turkish guide prices for international patients average 40% below typical UK private ranges and 56% below typical US self-pay ranges. The gap is widest in dentistry and hair restoration, narrower in implant-heavy orthopedics — and for a handful of procedures Turkey is not cheaper at all, which this index reports rather than hides.

The analysis

Why Turkey costs less — and where it doesn’t

The savings in this index are not a mystery, and they are not a warning sign. Four structural factors do most of the work. Labor economics: surgeon, nursing and facility costs in Turkey run at a fraction of London or New York levels, while training pipelines are Western-standard — many senior surgeons here hold US or EU fellowships. Currency: revenue arrives in euros and pounds while most costs are paid in lira, a spread that compounds the labor gap. Volume specialization: clinics performing thousands of identical procedures a year — hair transplants and dental restorations above all — price like focused factories, not general hospitals. List-price honesty: Turkish packages quote all-in figures up front, whereas UK and US “typical” figures are already discounted realities of a far higher sticker price.

The same logic predicts where Turkey is not dramatically cheaper — and the data confirms it. Procedures dominated by imported device costs narrow the gap, because the implant costs the same in every currency. That is why knee prp injection sits at the bottom of this index while full-arch dentistry — almost entirely skill and chair-time — sits at the top. An index that only reported bargains would be marketing; this one reports the market.

How to read any quote against this index

Use the guide range as a sanity band, not a promise. A quote far below the Turkish range deserves as much suspicion as one above it — something is missing from the package. Compare like with like: implant brand, nights included, anesthesia type, revision policy. Our guide to reading a treatment quote lists the exact questions, and a free record review turns a guide range into a fixed personal price.

Dental

The widest spreads in the index: a full smile makeover averages 76% below typical UK pricing, All-on-4 64% — chair-time-intensive work where the labor gap dominates.

Dental & Oral Health →

Hair Transplant

Behaves like precision manufacturing: all-in FUE packages undercut typical UK clinic pricing by roughly half and US pricing by two-thirds, premium techniques included.

Hair Transplant Unit →

Plastic & Aesthetic

Clusters around 30–50% below UK and 50–65% below US, with the deep-plane facelift — skill-dominated, hours-long — among the widest individual gaps.

Plastic Surgery →

Orthopedics & Spine

The honest outlier: implant-heavy procedures keep 30–45% UK gaps and dramatic US gaps, while a few arthroscopic repairs price at parity with the UK.

Questions about the numbers

Price index FAQ

Why is medical treatment so much cheaper in Turkey?

Lower labor and facility costs, a favourable currency spread, and clinics that specialise at very high volumes. The savings come from economics, not from cutting clinical corners — the hospitals behind these prices carry the same JCI accreditation used to benchmark leading US and European hospitals.

Does cheaper mean lower quality?

The index compares like-for-like modern care: the implant brands, imaging platforms and operating standards in accredited Turkish hospitals are the same international products used in the UK and US. Quality varies by provider in every country — accreditation, surgeon track record and transparent quoting are the real quality signals, not price alone.

What do the Turkey guide ranges include?

Published all-in guide ranges for international patients — typically the procedure, standard hospital stay, and routine follow-up as defined per package. Exact inclusions vary by procedure; every patient receives a written, fixed quote after clinical assessment.

Are there hidden costs to watch for?

The honest extras are travel-side: flights, accommodation beyond the package, travel insurance and companion costs. On the medical side, ask any provider — anywhere — what happens financially if plans change mid-treatment; reputable packages answer this in writing.

Where do the UK and US figures come from?

Representative private and self-pay ranges compiled from published clinic and insurer price lists in each market, reviewed each quarter alongside the Turkish guide ranges. They describe typical list-price reality, not any single provider.

How often is the index updated?

Quarterly. Each edition re-reviews all ranges and, from Q4 2026, reports quarter-on-quarter movement so the series can be tracked over time.

Why are some procedures barely cheaper in Turkey?

Where an imported implant or device dominates the bill — certain arthroscopic repairs, injection therapies — the hardware costs the same worldwide and the labor gap has less to work on. The index reports these at parity rather than excluding them.

Can I get an exact price for my case?

Yes — guide ranges become a fixed personal quote after your records are reviewed. A free second opinion with your existing scans and reports is the fastest route to a real number.

Can journalists and researchers reuse this data?

Yes, freely, with attribution and a link to this page (CC BY 4.0). Country-specific cuts and comment from named clinicians are available on request, normally within one working day.

Is this index medical or financial advice?

Neither — it is market data. Treatment decisions belong with qualified clinicians who know your case, and any price that matters to you should be confirmed as a written personal quote.

Methodology

How the index is built

Turkey guide (€): published guide ranges for international patients at JCI-accredited Acibadem hospitals, derived from vetted Turkish market averages and reviewed quarterly (last review: August 2026). UK typical (£) and US typical ($): representative private / self-pay ranges compiled from published clinic and insurer price lists. Savings compare range midpoints, converted at £1 = €1.17 and $1 = €0.92; category averages weight each procedure equally. Pricing meaningful only as a surcharge over a base procedure (e.g. robotic-assistance premiums) is excluded from averages.

Prices last reviewed: August 2026. These are guide ranges for international patients, based on published market data — not a quote. Your exact price depends on your clinical assessment; you will receive a personalised treatment plan and fixed quote after consultation.
