Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Köstek

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Köstek is a general surgeon with a clinical focus on endocrine surgery, robotic surgery, and thyroid surgery. At Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital, he works within the General Surgery and Endocrine Surgery units, caring for patients with a structured and up-to-date surgical approach.

He graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2015 and completed his general surgery residency at Health Sciences University Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital in 2021. His training also includes medical education rotations at Mayo Clinic Rochester and The University of Texas Faculty of Medicine in Houston, clinical research at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and experimental research in tumor immunology at University Hospital Zurich. He later worked as a general surgery specialist in the endocrine surgery unit at Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital and then at Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital, where he became Associate Professor in 2026. His recent credentials include the Turkish Surgical Board Certificate, the European Board of Surgery in Endocrine Surgery, fellowship experience at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Endocrine Surgery Clinic, and Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
