Numan Doğu Güner, MD

Numan Doğu Güner, MD is a urologist who sees patients at Acibadem Fulya Hospital and Acibadem Etiler Outpatient Clinic in İstanbul. Dr. Güner graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1988. He then completed his specialty training in urology at PTT Sanatoryumu Hospital, finishing in 1996. Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Güner’s work involves the prostate. He evaluates and treats prostate diseases, and prostate cancer is among the conditions he manages. Cancers of the urinary tract are also within his scope, including bladder cancer. Related to this, he assesses hematuria (blood in the urine), a symptom that calls for careful investigation of the urinary tract. Diagnostic cystoscopy, in which a thin instrument is used to look inside the urethra and bladder, is one of the procedures he performs. He also sees patients with a broad range of bladder health concerns and with urinary incontinence.

The second pillar of his practice is andrology and male reproductive health. This includes the evaluation of male infertility, the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, and circumcision. In each of these areas the appropriate approach depends on the individual patient’s findings, and Dr. Güner discusses the available options with the patient after an assessment.

How Dr. Güner works with international patients

Dr. Güner consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges the appointment and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. For patients who are not yet in İstanbul, a video consultation is available as a first step to review the case and discuss whether travel for an in-person evaluation is appropriate.
