Prof. Ali Bülent Antmen, MD

Prof. Ali Bülent Antmen, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Adana Hospital in Adana, where he works in the Pediatrics unit. His professional interests lie in pediatric hematology and oncology, covering blood disorders and childhood cancers. Dr. Antmen graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1987. He completed his training in Child Health and Diseases at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1993 and in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the same institution in 2004. After working at Medreseönü Health Center from 1987 to 1988, he served at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Department of Child Health and Diseases from 1988 to 2011 and has been with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2011. He is a member of the European Hematology Association (EHA) and was a member of the European Group for Bone Marrow and Transplantation (EBMT) from 1999 to 2004. He has been a board member of the Turkish Pediatric Hematology Association (2009–2011), Erythrocyte and Hemoglobin BAK Secretary of the Turkish Hematology Association (2007–2010) and, since 2007, Erythrocyte and Hemoglobin BAK Secretary of the Turkish Pediatric Hematology Association. He is also a member of the Milli Pediatri Association and the Türk Pediatri Association, a board member of the Hemophilia Federation and the Childhood Infectious Diseases Association, and II. President of the Çukurova Childhood Blood Diseases Association and the Çukurova Hemophilia Association. His published work includes studies on thalassemia major, sickle cell anemia, childhood non-Hodgkin lymphoma and glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Clinical focus

In pediatric hematology, Dr. Antmen assesses and manages children with iron deficiency and anemia and with thalassemia. His interests extend to malignant blood disorders in childhood, including leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and lymphoma, as well as bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapies.

In pediatric oncology, his areas of expertise include pediatric brain tumors, Wilms tumor, adenocarcinoma and rare tumors. The appropriate approach for each child depends on the diagnosis, the stage of the disease and the individual clinical picture, and is discussed with the family after a review of the available findings.

How Dr. Antmen works with international patients

Dr. Antmen consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory and pathology results, MRI or CT reports, bone marrow findings, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital stay.
