Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alpay Yılmaz

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alpay Yılmaz is a gynecologic oncology specialist at Acibadem Kent Hospital (Izmir) in İzmir, where he practices within the Gynecology & Obstetrics unit. His work spans gynecologic oncology as well as the subspecialty areas of urogynecology and menopause. Dr. Yılmaz has more than 27 years in medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025.

He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1999 and completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2005. In 2017, he completed training in Gynecological Oncology Surgery at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine. This sequence of general obstetrics and gynecology training followed by dedicated gynecologic oncology surgery training forms the basis of his current clinical practice, which brings together cancer care and the management of benign gynecologic conditions.

Clinical focus

Dr. Yılmaz evaluates and treats women with gynecologic cancers, including ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and vulvar cancer. Care for these conditions is planned on an individual basis, taking into account the type and extent of disease, previous investigations and treatments, and the patient’s overall health. Where appropriate, surgical and non-surgical options are discussed so that patients understand the reasoning behind any recommendation.

Alongside oncology, his practice includes urogynecology and the assessment of pelvic organ prolapse, a condition in which pelvic organs descend from their usual position and can cause discomfort or functional symptoms. He also provides endometriosis treatment and menopause care. Menopause consultations may address symptoms, general health considerations and the management options available, which are reviewed in the context of each patient’s history. Because these conditions can overlap or affect daily life in different ways, Dr. Yılmaz aims to address them within a single, coordinated gynecologic assessment.

How Dr. Yılmaz works with international patients

Dr. Yılmaz consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation remotely before deciding whether to travel.
