Prof. Alper Fındıkcıoğlu, MD

Prof. Alper Fındıkcıoğlu, MD is a thoracic surgeon at Acibadem Adana Hospital in Adana, where he practices in the Thoracic Surgery Department. Dr. Fındıkcıoğlu graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1998. Clinical focus

Dr. Fındıkcıoğlu’s clinical practice is centered on the surgical treatment of thoracic disease. A major part of his work concerns lung cancer and other thoracic cancers, including chest wall tumors and tumors of the mediastinum. He performs lung surgery using minimally invasive and robotic approaches. His minimally invasive techniques include single-port VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery), in which the operation is carried out through a single small incision, and robotic surgery, in which the surgeon controls robotic instruments from a console. Diagnostic procedures in his practice include bronchoscopy, which is used to examine the airways, and mediastinoscopy, which is used to sample lymph nodes in the mediastinum when staging or diagnosis requires it.

He also treats pneumothorax, diaphragmatic disorders and thoracic outlet syndrome, and provides surgical care for chest wall deformities, including pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum. These conditions fall within the wider field of cardiothoracic surgery. Whether a patient is a candidate for surgery, and which approach is appropriate, depends on the individual diagnosis, imaging findings and general health. These questions are discussed with the patient after a full evaluation, and not every condition requires an operation.

How Dr. Fındıkcıoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Fındıkcıoğlu speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example CT, MRI or X-ray reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
