Prof. Asım Kaytaz, MD

Prof. Asım Kaytaz, MD is an otorhinolaryngology specialist working in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul. He has been part of Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2001 and has more than 55 years in medicine. His professional interests include laser applications, endoscopic sinus surgery, otology and sinus surgery.

Dr. Kaytaz attended Robert Koleji from 1971 to 1975 and graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1981. He completed his specialty training in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1985. In 1995 he was a Visiting Fellow in laser applications and endoscopic sinus surgery at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University, in New York, USA, and returned there in 1996 for further training in the same field. Also in 1996 he completed an intensive training course on otology and sinus surgery at the Georgia International Otologic Training Center in Savannah, Georgia, USA. From 1994 to 1996 he served as a Board Member at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. His professional roles have included Treasurer and Secretary General on the Turkish Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery Association Board from 1994 to 2000, President of the Turkish Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery Association from 2002 to 2006, and Board Member and Secretary General of the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery Association from 2008 to 2010.

Clinical focus

Dr. Kaytaz’s clinical work covers four related areas of ear, nose and throat practice. Endoscopic sinus surgery and sinus surgery more broadly concern disorders of the nose and paranasal sinuses that may be considered for surgical treatment when appropriate; endoscopic techniques use a thin camera passed through the nostrils rather than external incisions. Laser applications refer to the use of laser instruments in selected ENT procedures. Otology addresses conditions of the ear, including disorders affecting hearing and the structures of the middle and inner ear.
