Burak Boynuk, MD

He worked at Özel 29 Mayıs Hospital from 2000 to 2010 and has been with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2009. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association and ASAMİ (Association for the Development of Extremity Reconstruction and Ilizarov Methods Applications). His publications include work on straight stem partial prosthesis for femoral neck fracture in patients over 70 years of age, early results of lengthening of an intramedullary nail for leg length discrepancies, divergence of interference screws in arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and a comparison of meniscus arrows with different meniscal suturing techniques.

Clinical focus

Dr. Boynuk treats adults and children with a range of orthopedic conditions. In the knee, his areas of expertise include sports-related knee injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament tear and meniscus tear, as well as hip and knee replacement surgery for joint disease. He also performs shoulder surgery and elbow surgery, and foot and ankle surgery.

A further part of his practice is dedicated to pediatric orthopedics and pediatric hand surgery. He has a particular interest in limb lengthening and extremity reconstruction, reflected in his ASAMİ membership and his published work on intramedullary nail lengthening. In trauma care, he applies minimally invasive surgical techniques where they are appropriate for the injury. The suitability of any procedure depends on the individual patient, and options are discussed after a clinical assessment.

How Dr. Boynuk works with international patients

Dr. Boynuk consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
