Dr. Burcu Duran Tak

Dr. Burcu Duran Tak is a specialist in Family Medicine at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, with an additional focus on Functional Medicine. She has more than 14 years of experience in medicine, spanning primary care, home healthcare services and hospital-based family medicine, and she consults in Turkish and English.

Dr. Tak graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2012 and began her career as a General Practitioner at İstanbul Zeytinburnu Community Health Center. From 2013 to 2017 she completed her Family Medicine residency at İstanbul Health Sciences University Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, where she worked as a Resident Physician in the Family Medicine Clinic, the Home Health Unit and the Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinic, and as a Family Physician at the Sultangazi Training Family Health Center. After qualifying as a specialist in 2017, she served at Erzurum Karaçoban District State Hospital, including as Responsible Specialist Physician of its Home Health Unit, and in 2018 at İstanbul Üsküdar State Hospital within the İstanbul Anatolian Side Home Health Command Center and at İstanbul Ümraniye 19 No. Family Health Center. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022. Her certified training includes the Intrauterine Device Application Certificate (Ministry of Health Approved, 2015), the Family Counseling and Couples Therapy Training Certificate from Marmara University Continuing Education Center (2016), an Acupuncture Applications for Neck and Back Pain Course (2016), a Smoking Cessation Treatment Certificate for Nicotine and Other Addictive Substances (Public Health Approved, 2017), and Ministry of Health Approved certificates in Ozone Therapy and Mesotherapy Application from İstanbul Medipol University Continuing Education Center (2018).

Dr. Tak’s practice covers the broad scope of family medicine, with particular attention to preventive care and the assessment of ongoing symptoms in the context of a patient’s overall health and lifestyle. She provides smoking cessation treatment for nicotine and other addictive substances, drawing on her certified training and her experience in a dedicated smoking cessation outpatient clinic. Her work in home healthcare, both as a resident and later as a responsible specialist physician, informs her approach to patients who require care outside a hospital setting.

How Dr. Tak works with international patients

Dr. Tak consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory and pathology results, MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options, including preventive health needs and appropriate follow-up. Video consultations are available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before travelling.
