Prof. Cem Fıçıcıoğlu, MD

Prof. Cem Fıçıcıoğlu, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Kozyatagi Hospital in İstanbul. His clinical work covers perinatology and high-risk pregnancies, the treatment of endometriosis, in vitro fertilization and reproductive medicine, and menopause. He has more than 42 years in medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2019.

Dr. Fıçıcıoğlu graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1984 and completed his specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at Zeynep Kamil Women’s and Children’s Diseases Training and Research Hospital in 1990. Between 1991 and 1995 he earned a PhD in Histology and Embryology at Marmara University. He became Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and Professor at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2005. In 1998 he received an in vitro fertilization certificate from the İstanbul University In Vitro Fertilization Research and Application Center at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, and in 2011 he completed the Medical Specialization Board in Perinatology. He also completed a Healthcare Institutions Management program at İstanbul Bilgi University Vocational School (2010–2012), an MBA at Yeditepe University (2013–2014), and a Functional Medicine certification at Functional Medicine University (2018). From 1998 to 2005 he was Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic at Zeynep Kamil Women’s and Children’s Diseases Training and Research Hospital, and from 2005 to 2019 he served as Founding Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the In Vitro Fertilization Center at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine. He is a member of ESHRE, ASRM, TSRM and the İstanbul Medical Chamber, a Founding Member and Second Vice President of the Reproductive Medicine Association, and holds board positions in the Turkish Gynecology Association and the Mother and Child Health Protection Foundation.

Clinical focus

Dr. Fıçıcıoğlu evaluates and treats a range of gynecological conditions, including endometriosis, menstrual irregularities, menstrual pain, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and menopause. In reproductive medicine, he assesses and manages infertility, low ovarian reserve (AMH), and egg freezing for fertility preservation, drawing on his training in in vitro fertilization and his background in histology and embryology.

His obstetric practice includes pregnancy follow-up, delivery planning, and the management of ectopic pregnancy, with particular attention to high-risk pregnancies within his perinatology training. The approach to each patient depends on her history, current findings, and personal priorities, and treatment options are discussed individually.

How Dr. Fıçıcıoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Fıçıcıoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages.
