Asst. Prof. Dr. Deniz Demircioğlu

Asst. Prof. Dr. Deniz Demircioğlu is a dermatologist at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Dermatology unit. Her practice covers inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and the different forms of dermatitis, acne, skin and fungal infections, sexually transmitted diseases, genital warts, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and skin tumors, including malignant melanoma.

Dr. Demircioğlu studied at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine from 1991 to 1997. In 2002 she completed her specialist training at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases. In the same year she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services and went on to work at Bakırköy Acıbadem Hospital from 2002 to 2005. From 2005 to 2008 she practiced at Yeditepe University Hospital, where she was appointed lecturer in the Yeditepe University Department of Dermatology in 2005 and assistant professor in 2006. She is a member of the Turkish Dermatology Association, the Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Association, and the Dermatoimmünoloji Association.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Demircioğlu’s work concerns chronic and inflammatory skin disease. She evaluates and treats patients with eczema, including atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis, as well as acne. She also treats hyperhidrosis, and botulinum toxin treatment is among the procedures she performs.

Her practice further includes infectious and venereal dermatology: fungal infections, other skin infections, sexually transmitted diseases and genital warts. In addition, she assesses patients with suspected or confirmed skin tumors, including malignant melanoma, and her clinical interests extend to other dermatological tumors. The choice of treatment in each of these areas depends on the individual findings and is discussed with the patient after examination.

How Dr. Demircioğlu works with international patients

Dr. Demircioğlu speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who prefer another language. Before a visit, the hospital’s international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports, such as previous dermatology notes, pathology results, laboratory findings and any relevant imaging, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit itself. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of previous treatments and existing test results, a clinical examination of the skin, and a discussion of the possible options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation with Dr. Demircioğlu before deciding whether to travel; whether an in-person examination is needed afterwards depends on the individual case.
