Prof. Derya Eroğlu, MD

Prof. Derya Eroğlu, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Fulya Hospital in İstanbul, where her work centers on perinatology and high-risk pregnancies. She has more than 30 years in medicine and is a member of the Turkish Gynecology and Obstetrics Association, the Turkish Maternal Fetal Medicine and Perinatology Association and The International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG).

Dr. Eroğlu graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine in 2002. She became Assistant Associate Professor at Başkent University in 2005 and Associate Professor at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine in 2008. In 2004 she worked at King’s College Hospital Harris Birthright Research Centre for Fetal Medicine in London, and from 2008 to 2010 she was part of the Başkent University Faculty of Medicine Maternal Fetal and Medical Perinatology Unit. In 2010 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services, and in 2011 she completed her perinatology specialization and the Medical Specialization Board in Perinatology. She was appointed Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Faculty of Medicine in 2017. Her published work includes studies on the prediction of preterm delivery, metabolic disorders in women with recent gestational diabetes, prenatal diagnosis by fetal sonography and pregnancy during hemodialysis, appearing in journals such as Gynecol Obstet Invest, J Obstet Gynaecol Res, Fetal Diagn and Ther and Acta Obstet Gynecol Scand.

Clinical focus

Dr. Eroğlu follows pregnancies from routine antenatal care through delivery, with particular attention to pregnancies that carry additional risk. Her areas of expertise include pregnancy follow-up, detailed pregnancy ultrasound and amniocentesis, as well as the assessment and management of preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. She also cares for women with placental conditions such as placenta previa and placenta accreta, which require careful planning during pregnancy and at the time of birth.

In delivery care, her practice covers vaginal birth with epidural analgesia, water birth and cesarean delivery. The choice of delivery approach is discussed with each patient in light of her medical history, the course of the pregnancy and the findings of ultrasound and other examinations. Outside pregnancy, her gynecological practice includes hysterectomy.

How Dr. Eroğlu works with international patients

Dr. Eroğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit.
