Assoc. Prof. Ece Uysal Çine, MD

Assoc. Prof. Ece Uysal Çine, MD is a neurosurgeon at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where she works within the Neurosurgery unit with a focus on spinal health and the treatment of pituitary diseases. Between 2019 and 2020 she undertook an observership at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Alongside her clinical work she is pursuing a PhD in neuroscience at Acıbadem University, begun in 2022, and a second university program in health management at Anadolu University, begun in 2020. She has co-authored peer-reviewed articles in journals including World Neurosurgery, British Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Clinical Neuroscience and European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences, on topics such as stereotactic radiosurgery decision-making in cavernomas, injection treatment of sacroiliac joint pain, external lumbar drainage complications, the molecular profile of glioblastoma and treatment selection in lumbar disc herniation.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Çine’s work concerns degenerative and structural disorders of the spine. She evaluates and treats lumbar and cervical disc herniation, lumbar and cervical spinal stenosis, spinal deformities, and spine and spinal cord injuries. Her surgical practice includes spinal surgery and spinal fusion surgery, and she also performs spinal injections for selected patients in whom a non-surgical approach may be appropriate. Spine and spinal cord tumours form a further area of her expertise.

In cranial neurosurgery, Dr. Çine’s areas of expertise include the treatment of pituitary diseases, meningioma, deep-seated brain tumours and brain aneurysms. The choice between observation, surgery or other treatment depends on the individual findings, and each case is assessed on its own merits after review of the available imaging and clinical history.
