Prof. Halit Çavuşoğlu, MD

Prof. Halit Çavuşoğlu, MD is a neurosurgeon at Acibadem Fulya Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Neurosurgery unit. Dr. Çavuşoğlu graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1995 and completed his Neurosurgery training at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital in 2005. He became an Associate Professor in 2011. From 2011 to 2014 he worked at Memorial Şişli Hospital, and in 2014 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. He is a member of the Türk Nöroşirürji Association, the Nervous System Surgery Association and the İstanbul Medical Chamber. His published work includes peer-reviewed articles on the unilateral approach for bilateral decompression in lumbar spinal stenosis, anterior cervical microdiscectomy, clip ligation of unruptured intracranial aneurysms, and the combined surgical and medical management of brain abscess.

Clinical focus

In cranial neurosurgery, Dr. Çavuşoğlu evaluates and treats patients with brain haemorrhage, brain tumours and paediatric brain tumours. Each case is assessed individually on the basis of the clinical findings and imaging, and the possible treatment options are discussed with the patient or, in the case of children, with the family.

A large part of his work concerns the spine. He treats lumbar spinal canal stenosis and cervical spinal canal stenosis, disc herniation, and spinal tumours and spinal cord tumours, and he performs spinal surgery when it is indicated. Patients with back pain or neck pain are assessed to determine whether a surgical or a non-surgical approach is appropriate for their situation. Surgery is considered only after the clinical picture and the available imaging have been reviewed together, and the expected course and the limitations of any procedure are explained beforehand.

How Dr. Çavuşoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Çavuşoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
