Prof. Murat Şamlı, MD

Prof. Murat Şamlı, MD is a urologist at Acibadem Bursa Hospital in Bursa, where he works in the Urology unit. His subspecialty areas are the diagnosis and treatment of prostate diseases, the treatment of sexual dysfunction, and andrology (male reproductive health). Dr. Şamlı studied at İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine from 1984 to 1990 and completed his urology training at Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital in 1995. He then worked at Ankara Sevgi Hospital (1995–1996 and 1998–1999) and at Gülhane Military Medical Academy (1996–1998). From 2000 to 2005 he was Assistant Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Medicine, where he became Associate Professor in 2005. He has worked with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2005. He is a member of the Turkish Urology Association, the Turkish Andrology Association, the Endourology Association, the Continence Association, the American Andrology Association (ASA), the American Urology Association (AUA), the European Urology Association (EAU), ICS (International Continence Society) and ESSM (European Society for Sexual Medicine).

Clinical focus

Dr. Şamlı’s clinical work covers prostate disease diagnosis and treatment, bladder health and diseases, and urological cancers, including testicular cancer and kidney cancer. He also evaluates and treats kidney diseases, hydronephrosis, urinary incontinence and undescended testis. Where surgery is considered, his areas of expertise include laparoscopic and robotic surgery and minimally invasive stone surgery for urinary and kidney stones.

In andrology, he sees men with male infertility, erectile dysfunction and other forms of sexual dysfunction, and his interests also include sexually transmitted diseases. His published research includes work on genetic anomalies in men with non-obstructive azoospermia and oligozoospermia, the induction of spermatogenesis with gonadotropins in idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, a bone anchored male sling for post-radical prostatectomy incontinence, treatment of BPH with terazosin and doxazosin, and experimental studies related to laparoscopic and retroperitoneoscopic surgery.

How Dr. Şamlı works with international patients

Dr. Şamlı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages.
