Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Sezer

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Sezer is a Pulmonary Medicine specialist who sees patients in the Pulmonology unit of Acibadem Eskisehir Hospital in Eskişehir. His work covers the evaluation and management of respiratory symptoms and lung conditions, including asthma, lung cancer and other thoracic cancers, pulmonary embolism, lung nodules, and lower respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia. He also performs bronchoscopy when it is indicated as part of a diagnostic work-up. He has more than 28 years of experience in medicine and holds the academic title of Associate Professor.

Dr. Sezer graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1998. He then completed his specialty training at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital Department of Chest Diseases, finishing in 2003. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2023 and has practised as a pulmonologist within the group since then.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Sezer’s practice concerns chronic and acute airway conditions. He evaluates and manages asthma, with attention to symptom control and the review of existing treatment plans. He also treats lower respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia, and assesses patients with a broad range of lung diseases whose symptoms may include cough, shortness of breath, or abnormal findings on imaging.

Dr. Sezer’s clinical interests also include lung cancer and other thoracic cancers, as well as the assessment of lung nodules identified on chest imaging. Depending on the clinical picture, this may involve a review of prior scans, follow-up imaging, or bronchoscopy to obtain further diagnostic information. He additionally evaluates and manages patients with pulmonary embolism. In all of these areas, care is planned according to the individual patient’s clinical needs and diagnostic findings, and the appropriate next steps are discussed with the patient after the initial assessment.

How Dr. Sezer works with international patients

Dr. Sezer consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example CT, X-ray, or MRI reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes, and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options that may be relevant. Video consultation is available for international patients, which can be used for an initial review of records or for follow-up discussion where a physical examination is not required at that stage.
