Mürüvvet Ayten Tüzünalp, MD is an ophthalmologist at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Ophthalmology unit with a subspecialty focus on neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Tüzünalp graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1992 and completed her specialty training at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital Department of Ophthalmology in 1996. Between 1995 and 1996 she worked in the Department of Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. From 1996 to 2000 she was Head of the Strabismus Department at Haydarpaşa Hospital, and from 1996 to 2006 she saw patients in private practice at Fundus Eye Clinic. Between 2003 and 2006 she worked in the Department of Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology at New Vision Laser Center, Antwerp-Belçika. From 2006 to 2017 she served as Department Head of Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology at Dünya Göz Hospital. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2017.

Clinical focus

Dr. Tüzünalp evaluates and manages a range of eye conditions in adults and children. Her areas of expertise include glaucoma, refractive errors such as astigmatism and hyperopia, and cataract care including the use of premium intraocular lenses. She also sees patients with blepharitis, eye allergy, ptosis, and eyelid twitching, as well as keratoconus and uveitis.

Drawing on her background in strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology, she assesses children with pediatric eye diseases, amblyopia, and color blindness. Within neuro-ophthalmology, her work includes the evaluation of eye migraine and other visual symptoms that may have a neurological component. Each patient’s condition is assessed individually, with attention to symptoms, visual function, and appropriate follow-up.

How Dr. Tüzünalp works with international patients

Dr. Tüzünalp consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments, and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical eye examination, and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before travelling or to follow up after a visit.
