Prof. Nur Aydınlı, MD

Prof. Nur Aydınlı, MD is a Pediatric Neurology specialist who sees patients in the Neurology unit at Acibadem Atakent Hospital and Acibadem International Hospital in İstanbul. She has worked in medicine for more than 43 years, and her clinical work concentrates on the neurological conditions of childhood, including epilepsy, headaches, neuromuscular and peripheral nerve disorders, and neurometabolic disorders.

Dr. Aydınlı graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1983 and completed compulsory service at the Van Family Planning and Maternal and Child Health Center from 1983 to 1985. She trained as a resident at İstanbul University Child Health Institute from 1986 to 1990 and received the title of Child Health and Diseases specialist in 1990. She then completed a subspecialty residency in Pediatric Neurology (Developmental Neurology) at İstanbul Faculty of Medicine between 1991 and 1993, which included a period of work in 1992 at the Pediatric Neurology Department of the Pediatric Clinic, Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany. She received the title of Pediatric Neurology specialist in 1993 and, in 2012, the title of Developmental Pediatrics specialist through the Medical Specialization Board. After posts as chief assistant at the Haseki Hospital Pediatric Clinic and at the Division of Pediatric Neurology of İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, she was appointed Associate Professor in 1999 and Professor in 2005 at the same division. From 2016 she served as Head of the Division of Pediatric Neurology in the Department of Child Health and Diseases at İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, and in 2025 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services.

Clinical focus

Dr. Aydınlı evaluates and manages a broad range of childhood neurological disorders. A central part of her practice is pediatric epilepsy, alongside febrile seizures, which are among the more common reasons children are referred for neurological assessment. She also sees children with headaches, balance disorders and stroke, as well as children with neurometabolic disorders in whom neurological symptoms may point to an underlying metabolic cause.

Her expertise further covers neuromuscular disorders, including myopathies and other muscle and nerve disorders, peripheral nerve disorders, and Guillain-Barré syndrome. She also assesses and manages pediatric spasticity. In each case, the evaluation is adapted to the child’s age, developmental stage and medical history, and the available options are discussed with the family.

How Dr. Aydınlı works with international patients

Dr. Aydınlı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is also offered to international patients, for example for an initial review of existing reports or for follow-up after a visit to İstanbul.
