Prof. Orhan Demircan, MD

Prof. Orhan Demircan, MD is a General Surgery specialist at Acibadem Adana Hospital in Adana, where he works within the Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery and General Surgery units. Dr. Demircan graduated from İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1985 and completed his General Surgery training at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. He worked in the Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Department of General Surgery from 1993 to 1995 and was appointed Assistant Associate Professor there in 1995, Associate Professor in 1997, and Professor in 2004. In 1999 he worked in the Department of Endocrine Surgery at University of California Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco, and in 2007 in Breast Diseases, Department of Surgical Oncology at University of Pittsburg Medical Center, Magee Women Hospital. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2009. He is a member of the Turkish Surgical Association, the Endokrinde Diyalog Association, the World Society of Breast Health, the Endocrine Surgery Association, the National Trauma and Emergency Association, and the Çukurova Surgical Association. He is President of the Board of Directors of Çukurova Breast Diseases Association and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Breast Diseases Federation. His published work includes articles on thyroid carcinoma and thyroid tumors, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, hydatid liver surgery, cavernous hemangioma of the liver, and vascular lesions of the rectum and colon.

Clinical focus

Dr. Demircan’s areas of expertise include thyroid surgery and endocrine surgery, as well as gastrointestinal and coloproctology surgery. He treats anorectal conditions such as anal fissure and hemorrhoids and anorectal diseases, and provides surgical assessment for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. His digestive system practice also covers small intestinal cancer and liver cancer, and he performs endoscopy.

He also manages abdominal wall hernias, including inguinal hernia and umbilical hernia, and evaluates patients for obesity surgery within the Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery unit. Robotic surgery is among his subspecialty areas. In addition, he sees patients with gynecomastia. How Dr. Demircan works with international patients
