Prof. Dr. Özgüç Takmaz

Prof. Dr. Özgüç Takmaz is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul. Her clinical work focuses on urogynecology, urinary incontinence and bladder health, and menopause, alongside general gynecological and obstetric care such as endometriosis, pelvic pain, menstrual irregularities, pregnancy follow-up and delivery. She has more than 21 years of experience in medicine.

Dr. Takmaz graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2005 and completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the same faculty in 2010, where she worked in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2005 to 2010. From 2010 to 2012 she carried out her compulsory service at Şanlıurfa Suruç Devlet Hospital. In 2013 she joined Acibadem Maslak Hospital. She was appointed Assistant Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine in 2017 and Associate Professor in 2021. She is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists- AAGL, the Society of European Gynaecological Surgery (SERGS), the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), TJOD-Turkish Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the Minimal Invasive Gynecology Association and the Minimal Invasive Gynecological Oncology Association. Her published work includes studies on laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomy, perioperative pain management after laparoscopic hysterectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy in early-stage endometrial cancer, and maternal feeding after Caesarean delivery.

Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Takmaz’s practice is urogynecology. She evaluates and treats urinary incontinence and other bladder health problems and diseases, as well as pelvic pain and pelvic dysfunction. She also provides menopause care, which may involve assessing symptoms and discussing the options appropriate to each patient’s situation.

In general gynecology, Dr. Takmaz manages endometriosis, menstrual irregularities and ectopic pregnancy, and offers genital warts treatment and genital aesthetic procedures, including vaginal whitening and tightening. Her obstetric work covers pregnancy follow-up and delivery care. The suitability of any treatment is determined after a clinical evaluation of the individual patient.

How Dr. Takmaz works with international patients

Dr. Takmaz consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
