Dr. Özgün Barış Çolak

Dr. Özgün Barış Çolak is a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation specialist at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul, where he practices within the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation unit. He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Turkish Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association, and the Hukukçu Hekimler Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Çolak evaluates and treats patients with musculoskeletal and nerve disorders, with particular attention to spine health. His areas of expertise include lumbar disc herniation and cervical disc herniation, frozen shoulder syndrome, sports injuries, and knee injuries. A significant part of his work concerns pain management for patients whose symptoms affect movement, function, and daily activities.

He also cares for patients with fibromyalgia, provides rehabilitation for people living with Parkinson’s disease, and offers treatment for lipedema. In keeping with his interest in neuromuscular diseases, his approach centers on assessing how a condition limits a patient’s function and on planning rehabilitation and pain-relief measures suited to that individual. How Dr. Çolak works with international patients

Dr. Çolak consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes, and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the available options.
