Dr. Sema Karaoğlu

Dr. Sema Karaoğlu is a dermatologist at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri, where she works within the Dermatology unit. Her practice covers medical and aesthetic dermatology, including rosacea, excessive sweating, mole removal, tattoo removal and pregnancy-related hair loss, as well as procedures such as PRP, microneedling, exosome applications, fibroblast treatment, botulinum toxin treatment and under-eye light filler. She has more than 38 years in medicine and is a member of the Turkish Dermatology Association (TDD).

Dr. Karaoğlu graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 1988 and went on to work as a specialist doctor in the Department of Internal Medical Sciences at Dokuz Eylül University (DEÜ). In 1993 she completed her specialty training in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine and subsequently worked as a dermatology specialist in the Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Department at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine (ERÜ). In 1997 she trained in dermatological surgery and phlebology at Friedrich-Alexander Universitat Clinic Erlangen-Nurmber alongside Prof Dr Gerold Schuler, and from 2005 to 2007 she held an observer position in Pittsburgh, USA. She has been part of Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2010.

Dr. Karaoğlu evaluates and treats a range of skin conditions. Her areas of expertise include rosacea, excessive sweating treatment and pregnancy-related hair loss treatment. She also performs mole removal and tattoo removal. Which approach is appropriate depends on the individual findings at examination, the patient’s history and the characteristics of the lesion or condition concerned.

In aesthetic and regenerative dermatology, her practice includes microneedling, PRP, exosome applications, fibroblast treatment, botulinum toxin treatment and under-eye light filler. As with any dermatological procedure, suitability, expected effects and possible side effects are considered on an individual basis and discussed with the patient before any decision is made.

How Dr. Karaoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Karaoğlu speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who prefer another language. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of any existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination of the skin, hair or area of concern, and a discussion of the available options, including their limitations. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling; a physical examination may still be needed before a treatment plan is finalized.
