Senem Almaç Deniz, MD

Senem Almaç Deniz, MD is an otorhinolaryngology specialist practicing in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit of Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. She then worked in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at Nene Hatun Hospital between 2003 and 2004, followed by a position at Altın Tepe Kızılay in 2004. In the same year she gained experience at Toronto Mount Sinai Hospital in Canada. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2005, where she has continued her practice in otorhinolaryngology.

Clinical focus

A significant part of Dr. Deniz’s practice involves the nose and sinuses. She evaluates and treats sinusitis, including persistent or recurrent forms, and performs endoscopic sinus surgery when medical treatment has not provided adequate relief. The decision to operate is made after assessment of symptoms, examination findings and imaging. She also manages pharyngitis and conditions of the tonsils and adenoids, and performs tonsillectomy when it is indicated. Snoring is another area of her work; assessment aims to identify where the airway narrows and to discuss conservative and surgical options as appropriate.

Dr. Deniz also sees patients with hearing loss and performs inner ear surgery in selected cases, following clinical evaluation. Swallowing difficulty, or dysphagia, is assessed to identify its cause within the throat and upper airway before treatment is planned. Her expertise further extends to tongue cancer, where she takes part in diagnosis and treatment. In each of these areas, the approach depends on the individual patient’s findings, and options are discussed before any procedure is proposed.

How Dr. Deniz works with international patients

Dr. Deniz consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as CT or MRI reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination of the ear, nose and throat, and a discussion of the available options.
