Social Reponsibility

Supporting discovery of new knowledge and practices by facilitating academic studies and scientific researches in Health Sciences in all areas of health, Acıbadem Education and Health Foundation was founded to make contributions to national education of our country and well-being of our people in order to improve solidarity feelings of the public.

Purpose of Foundation

To give moral and financial support to the students who study health sciences,
To boost quality in education of health,
To increase quality of healthcare services

Education Project

The aim of Acıbadem Education and Health Foundation for the near future is to contribute to university education of students and to establish “Acıbadem Health Sciences University” to conduct scientific and technologic investigations. The foundation continues making efforts in this end.

Education Grants

Acıbadem Education and Health Foundation offers grants to a certain number of successful students every year to support material and non-material needs of successful students who study health sciences.

There are three requirements to receive a grant:

The need for the grant should be proven,
Candidates should be studying health sciences in a higher education institution,
Grades should be good and better.

HEALTH RESPONSIBILITY PROJECTS

Education Grants

Acıbadem Education and Health Foundation offers non-refundable grants to a certain number of successful students to support material and non-material needs of successful students who study health sciences. Moreover, physicians are financially supported who attend local and international congresses and author scientific articles.

Clown therapy

Voluntary doctor and nurse clowns of Acıbadem take a role in the medical animation service that aims to minimize stress and anxiety at hospital settings for children and adults.

Clean Hands Campaign

This campaign is held to increase awareness of hand-washing and make it a public habit through the motto “Clean Hands Save Life”. In the hand-washing campaign, certain activities are organized, such as improvement of hand-washing habit, awareness educations and outdoor advertisements.

Cancer Support Groups

Cancer patients are about to face many physical and psychological problems. “Cancer Support Groups” are established to support patients with documented cancer who are maintained on treatment or in the follow-up. The groups are established to provide cancer patients with professional support and psychologists participate in meetings that are held at regular intervals.

Terry Fox Run

Terry Fox Run is an activity that is organized every year to provide cancer studies with financial fund. This Run has been organized since the death of Terry Fox who was diagnosed with bone cancer and ran “Marathon of Hope”, after his leg was amputated when he was only 18. Acıbadem supports this project.

Scientific Meetings

Education and training meetings are regularly held for physicians and nurses; lecturers and participants from our organization and other public and private institutes and agencies participate in these meetings held to support discovery of new knowledge and develop novel practices in all topics about health by enabling academic studies and scientific investigations in the area of Health Sciences. Public Health Education and Training: Acıbadem organizes various training programs and courses at Acıbadem hospitals to ensure health of citizens, grow healthy generations and make them live healthy lives, increase public awareness and help and guide relevant problems. Examples include Low Back School, First Aid Course, Birth Preparation Course, Diabetes Training and Smoke-free Life Program.

Health Conversations

Acıbadem organizes health conversations for the public about health topics at Acıbadem Hospitals in order to ensure health of citizens, increase public awareness and help and guide problems.

Patient Education Center

A Patient Education Center was established at Acıbadem Kozyatağı Hospital in 2005 to educate patients and family members. Any and all up-to-date information, periodical and visual material (CD/DVD, video etc.) is free-of-charge available in the center.

Diabetes School

Acıbadem organizes various training programs and courses at Acıbadem hospitals to ensure health of citizens, grow healthy generations and make them live healthy lives, increase public awareness and help and guide relevant problems. Diabetes School is one of these educations. Diabetes Centers allow multidisciplinary treatment for diabetic patients. Participants are certified, if they attend all “Diabetes School” education meetings held by Acıbadem Diabetes Centers for five weeks pursuant to patient education program.

PUBLICATIONS

Acıbadem Hayat

Acıbadem Hayat Magazine is created by modifying design and content of Güncel Sağlık (Up-to-date Health) magazine, which has been published by Acıbadem Healthcare Group since 1995, in 2010. Acıbadem Hayat is a popular health magazine published at quarter intervals. It addresses many issues, ranging from all topics that should be known in health to novel diagnosis and treatment modalities, as plain and simple as possible in a colorful format along with interviews with physicians of Acıbadem. The magazine is printed in 55 thousand copies and available free-of-charge for all patients in all Acıbadem hospitals.

Badem Children’s Books

“Badem Child” is a hero specially designed by Acıbadem for children at 4 to 7 years of age to help children overcome fear of visiting a doctor and hospital along with “Badem Child” tale. These books are a special series that contain basic health information and help children cope with fear

Failure to access to correct health information is a major problem about children and health for children in our county. Parents usually provoke the fear of visiting a doctor by punishing their children with ‘a visit to a doctor’. However, a good communication should be ensured between children and healthcare facilities continuously in their growth age until they become a healthy adult, rather than when they get sick. Badem Child tale series do not only tell health information, but it also offers a model for parents regarding their communication with children.

Briefly, Badem Child tale series is a tool that also guides and educates parents. Another aim of this project is to create simple health guidelines for families. These tales are authored under supervision of specialized physicians.
