Prof. Altan Göktaş, MD

Prof. Altan Göktaş, MD is an ophthalmologist at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri, where he works within the Ophthalmology unit. He has more than 28 years in medicine. Dr. Göktaş graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1998 and completed his specialty training at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology in 2002. From 2013 to 2015 he worked at the Kayseri Training and Research Hospital Ophthalmology Clinic, and in 2024 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. Dr. Göktaş is a member of the Türk Oftalmoloji Association and an active member of the Retina Unit. His published work and congress presentations address topics such as central serous chorioretinopathy, diabetic retinopathy, choroidal thickness, vitreomacular traction, and the comparison of keratometry and central corneal thickness measurements obtained with different devices in cataract patients and elderly patients. These have appeared in the journals Ret-Vit and Glo-Kat and have been presented at Euretina Congresses in Hamburg and London and at the ASRS 33rd Annual Meeting in Vienna.

Clinical focus

Dr. Göktaş assesses and manages a range of conditions affecting the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. His areas of expertise include glaucoma, cataract, smart lens procedures, and keratoconus. He also sees patients with strabismus and uveitis.

A significant part of his work concerns retinal diseases, including retinal tears and detachment and macular degeneration. Surgical care in this area includes vitrectomy. The suitability of any procedure is decided individually after examination, and not every patient with a given diagnosis will be a candidate for the same approach.

How Dr. Göktaş works with international patients

Dr. Göktaş speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
