Her respiratory practice also includes asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), where the aims of care generally include confirming the diagnosis, reviewing current medication and supporting longer-term control of symptoms.

In the digestive field, she manages gastroenteritis, chronic pancreatitis and fatty liver disease. Her practice further includes kidney failure, anaemia and hyperthyroidism. Where a condition such as kidney failure or anaemia is identified, further investigation is usually directed at establishing the underlying cause before treatment is planned. Because many of these conditions overlap or occur together, an Internal Medicine assessment often looks at the patient as a whole, considering existing diagnoses, laboratory findings and medication, and identifying when a referral to another specialty may be appropriate.
