Assoc. Prof. Hatice Gamze Demirdağ, MD

Assoc. Prof. Hatice Gamze Demirdağ, MD is a dermatologist at Acibadem Kent Hospital (Izmir), where she sees patients in the Dermatology unit. With more than 21 years in medicine, she works across medical and cosmetic dermatology, with attention to the individual skin, hair and scalp needs of each patient.

Dr. Demirdağ graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2005 and completed her specialty training in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases at İnönü University Faculty of Medicine in 2012. Between 2017 and 2018 she undertook further training at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Dermoscopy-Skin Cancer Unit, with a focus on dermatoscopy and skin cancer. Her professional experience includes Malatya Devlet Hospital from 2012 to 2015 and Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital from 2015 to 2020, followed by private practice in Ankara (Ankara Özel Muayenehane) from 2021 to 2022. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022.

Clinical focus

Dr. Demirdağ evaluates and treats a range of inflammatory and infectious skin conditions. These include acne, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis, as well as other forms of eczema and skin infections. She also assesses and treats hair loss, including hair loss during pregnancy, and excessive sweating, for which botulinum toxin treatment is among the options she offers.

A further area of her work is the assessment of pigmented lesions and skin tumours. Building on her training in dermatoscopy, she examines suspicious lesions and is involved in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer, including melanoma and other skin tumours. Her procedural work includes fractional laser treatment, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) applications, mesotherapy and microneedling radiofrequency. Whether a given procedure is suitable is decided after a clinical examination and a discussion of the expected benefits and possible side effects for the individual patient.

How Dr. Demirdağ works with international patients

Dr. Demirdağ consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports, including laboratory and pathology results, operative notes, discharge summaries and any relevant imaging, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of previous treatments and existing reports, a clinical examination of the skin, hair or scalp, and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their concerns or review findings before or after travelling.
