Prof. İkbal Esen Aydıngöz, MD

Prof. İkbal Esen Aydıngöz, MD is a dermatologist at Acibadem Kozyatagi Hospital in İstanbul, where she sees patients in the Dermatology unit. She graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1987 and completed her dermatology residency at İstanbul Beyoğlu Hospital and Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital between 1987 and 1991. In 1991 she also spent a period as an observer at Ruprecht – Karls – Universitat Heidelberg – Institute of Immunology and Serology, Immunopathology, Heideberg – Germany. She received the title of Associate Professor at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital in 2002.

Dr. Aydıngöz worked at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital as a Specialist in the Dermatology Clinic (1991–1993), Chief Assistant of the Dermatology Clinic (1993–2000) and Deputy Chief of the Dermatology Clinic (2001–2006). During the same years she also practiced at Özel Göztepe Hospital (1993–2005), and in 2000 she spent time at the University Of Minnesota, Department Of Dermatology, Cutaneous Surgery And Laser Center. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2005. She is a member of the Association of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases, the Turkish Dermatology Association and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. Her published work includes studies on gene polymorphisms in vitiligo and in acne vulgaris, dermoscopic patterns of nail lesions, vulvar pigmented lesions and cutaneous findings in inflammatory bowel disease, as well as a book chapter on the treatment of systemic pruritus.

Clinical focus

Dr. Aydıngöz assesses and treats a range of inflammatory skin conditions. These include acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and sun allergy. Her work also covers pigmentation disorders, including vitiligo, and the evaluation of birthmarks.

Infectious skin conditions form a further part of her practice. She treats skin infections and Candida fungal infections, and provides wart treatment, including the management of genital warts. The choice of treatment in each case depends on the clinical examination and the individual history of the patient.

How Dr. Aydıngöz works with international patients

Dr. Aydıngöz speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory and pathology results, previous dermatology reports, clinical photographs where available and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
