Mehmet Altuğ, MD

Mehmet Altuğ, MD is a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery & Traumatology at Acibadem Adana Orthopedia Hospital in Adana, where he practises within the Orthopedics & Joint Center. Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Altuğ’s practice is devoted to foot and ankle surgery. This includes the assessment and treatment of clubfoot (pes equinovarus), flatfoot (pes planus), and diabetic foot and Charcot foot conditions, which may require reconstructive surgery when conservative measures are no longer sufficient. He also sees patients with osteoarthritis, where treatment planning depends on the joints affected, the degree of wear and the patient’s overall condition.

In pediatric orthopedics, Dr. Altuğ treats children with spasticity, torticollis and congenital or acquired deformities. His work in deformity surgery, limb lengthening and advanced limb reconstruction addresses differences in limb length, alignment problems and complex deformities in both children and adults. He also performs minimally invasive trauma surgery for musculoskeletal injuries. Each case is evaluated individually, and the choice between non-surgical care, staged correction or a single reconstructive procedure is discussed with the patient or the child’s family.

How Dr. Altuğ works with international patients

Dr. Altuğ consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. For patients who are unable to travel initially, or who wish to have their case reviewed before making arrangements, Dr. Altuğ also offers video consultations for international patients, during which existing records and imaging can be discussed and the next steps outlined.
