Dr. Erkanlı studied at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine from 1988 to 1995 and completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1999, where he also worked from 1995 to 1999. He was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southern California (USC), Keck School of Medicine, Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Department of Gynaecological Oncology, Norris Cancer Institute in Los Angeles from 2000 to 2001, followed by fellowships at Centre Oscar Lambret Cancer Centre in Lille, France (2003) and St. Stephen Hospital, Department of Gynaecological Oncology, in Budapest, Hungary (2005). From 2002 to 2010 he worked at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in Adana, becoming Associate Professor in 2007. In 2011 he obtained the Medical Specialization Board qualification in Gynaecological Oncology Surgery and completed robotic surgery training at IRCAD in Strasbourg, France. In 2023 he received the ESGO Professional Recognition in Gynaecological Oncology Certificate from the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). He is a member of the Turkish Gynaecological Oncology Association (TRSGO), the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGSC), the Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Oncology Association and the Robotic Surgery Association, among others. His published work includes studies on endometrial carcinoma, fertility-sparing therapy in young women with endometrial cancer, ovarian carcinoma and postmenopausal hormone therapy.
Clinical focus
Dr. Erkanlı’s practice centers on gynecologic cancers. He evaluates and treats patients with cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer. Care planning covers diagnosis, surgical options and follow-up needs, and is adapted to each patient’s findings and overall situation.
He also treats benign gynecologic conditions, including endometriosis and menstrual irregularities, and performs hysterectomy when this is an appropriate option.
