Assoc. Prof. Yaşar Bayri, MD

Assoc. Prof. Yaşar Bayri, MD is a neurosurgeon at Acibadem Kartal Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Neurosurgery unit with a subspecialty in the treatment of pituitary diseases. Dr. Bayri graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1993 and completed his neurosurgery training at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. In 2006 he joined Yale University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery as a researcher in the field of neurogenetics, remaining there until 2008. He received a doctorate in microneurosurgery from Marmara University Institute of Neurological Sciences in 2012 and became an associate professor at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery in 2017. His professional experience includes positions at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery (1996–2001 and 2009–2022), Acıbadem Hospital Neurosurgery (2001–2006), Yale University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery (2006–2008) and Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery (2008–2009). He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on topics such as hydrocephalus, meningioma, the genetics of intracranial aneurysm, arteriovenous malformations and neural tube defects.

Dr. Bayri’s surgical practice centers on brain tumors, including gliomas, meningiomas and deep-seated brain tumors. He also treats hematomas and hydrocephalus. In the field of functional neurosurgery, his areas of expertise include epilepsy surgery for patients under evaluation for surgical epilepsy treatment, as well as brain stimulation.

His subspecialty is the treatment of pituitary diseases, and pituitary disorder treatment forms part of his clinical practice.
