Prof. Dr. Yusufhan Süoğlu

Prof. Dr. Yusufhan Süoğlu is an otorhinolaryngology specialist with a subspecialty in head and neck surgery. He practices at Acibadem Fulya Hospital in İstanbul, in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit. He graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1991 and completed his specialist training in otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery at İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, İstanbul University in 1995. He has been part of Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2009 and has more than 37 years in medicine.

His training and career path include practical training in thoracic surgery at East Birmingham University in England (1989), training in otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery and facial plastic surgery at Marburg University, Fulda Teaching Hospital in Germany (1997), and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Oregon Health & Science University and Virginia University in the United States (2004). He completed his military service at Gümüşsuyu Asker Hospital between 1998 and 2000. At İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, İstanbul University, he became an associate professor in 2002 and a professor in 2008. In 2012 he worked as a consultant in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Kadıköy Şifa, Ataşehir Hospital. He is a member of the Türk Larengoloji Association, the Avrupa Rinoloji Association, the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Association, and he is a founding member, board member and secretary general of the Facial Plastic Surgery Association. His published work includes studies on laryngeal cancer, tongue tumors, head and neck cancer and quality of life after surgical treatment of laryngeal cancer.

Clinical focus

Dr. Süoğlu’s clinical work centers on head and neck surgery. His areas of expertise include salivary gland diseases and salivary gland cancer, oral cancer, laryngeal cancer and other head and neck cancers. He also performs thyroid surgery. Evaluation of these conditions usually depends on clinical examination and a review of existing imaging and pathology findings, and treatment options are discussed individually with each patient.

A second part of his practice covers nasal and sinus surgery, including septoplasty and septorhinoplasty, as well as rhinoplasty for functional or aesthetic reasons. He also sees patients with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, where the ear, nose and throat assessment forms one part of the overall evaluation.
