Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Türken’s work is the assessment and management of osteoarthritis and other joint diseases. When conservative measures are no longer sufficient, he performs hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery. The decision to proceed with joint replacement is based on the patient’s symptoms, functional limitations, imaging findings and general health, and the choice of approach is discussed individually with each patient.

His second area of focus is orthopedic trauma, including minimally invasive trauma surgery where the pattern of injury allows it. Within sports medicine and sports traumatology, Dr. Türken treats meniscus tears, muscle tears and other knee and joint injuries. He also assesses patients with flat feet. Treatment may be non-surgical or surgical depending on the diagnosis, the severity of the condition and the patient’s activity level and goals.

How Dr. Türken works with international patients

Dr. Türken consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior medical reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital stay. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing imaging and any previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options, including whether surgery is appropriate at this stage. For patients abroad, a video consultation can be arranged as a first step to review the case and outline possible next steps; a final treatment plan is confirmed after in-person examination and any additional imaging that may be required.
