Prof. Bülent Özçelik, MD

Prof. Bülent Özçelik, MD is a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics who sees patients at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri. Dr. Özçelik graduated from Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and completed his specialization in obstetrics and gynecology at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine between 1995 and 2000. He then joined Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where he served as Lecturer (2000–2002), Assistant Associate Professor (2002–2005) and Associate Professor (2005–2010) before being appointed Professor in 2010. In 2011 he completed training in Gynecological Oncology Surgery at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. He is a member of the Turkish Gynecology and Obstetrics Association, the Turkish-German Gynecology Association, the Turkish Gynecological Oncology Association, the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the International Society of Gynecologic Cancer and the Turkish Medical Association. His published research includes studies on ovarian tumors, endometriosis in experimental models, vulvar cancer and human papilloma virus, and cervical preparation before operative hysteroscopy.

Clinical focus

Dr. Özçelik’s areas of expertise center on gynecologic cancers. He evaluates and treats women with endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and vulvar cancer. HPV, which is relevant to several of these conditions, is also within his clinical scope, and his publications include work on the relationship between vulvar cancer and human papilloma virus.

Beyond oncology, his practice covers benign gynecologic conditions and procedures. These include hysterectomy, endometriosis treatment, ectopic pregnancy and uterine prolapse. Which approach is appropriate depends on the individual patient’s diagnosis, prior treatment and overall health, and is decided only after clinical assessment and a review of the relevant reports.

How Dr. Özçelik works with international patients

Dr. Özçelik consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
