Funda Güneri, MD

Funda Güneri, MD is a dermatologist at Acibadem Dr. Sinasi Can (Kadikoy) Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Dermatology unit. Clinical focus

A significant part of Dr. Güneri’s work concerns skin tumors. She evaluates and manages melanoma and other skin tumors, and provides care for patients with skin cancer. New, changing or otherwise suspicious lesions are assessed clinically, and the findings guide the discussion of any further investigation or treatment. She also performs cryotherapy, a cold-based treatment used for selected skin lesions where it is considered appropriate.

Her medical dermatology practice includes inflammatory conditions such as eczema and atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis, as well as skin infections, fungal skin infections and athlete’s foot. She treats genital warts and anal and perianal warts, and offers treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). In cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Güneri carries out botulinum toxin and dermal filler applications. Whether a cosmetic application is suitable, and which approach may be considered, is discussed on an individual basis after a clinical assessment of the skin and a review of the patient’s medical history.

How Dr. Güneri works with international patients

Dr. Güneri consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. For dermatology cases, earlier dermatology reports, pathology results and photographs of the affected area, where available, can help in preparing the visit. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling or to follow up after a visit, with the understanding that a clinical examination in person may still be needed before decisions about treatment are made.
