Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Metintaş

Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Metintaş is a Pulmonary Medicine specialist at Acibadem Eskisehir Hospital in Eskişehir, where he practices in the Pulmonology unit. Dr. Metintaş graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Medicine in 1986. He completed his specialty training at Anadolu University Faculty of Medicine Department of Chest Diseases in 1991. Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Metintaş’s practice is the evaluation of mesothelioma, lung cancer and other thoracic cancers. This includes the assessment of lung nodules found on imaging, where the aim is to clarify whether a finding needs further investigation, follow-up over time or treatment. Bronchoscopy is among the procedures he performs; it allows direct inspection of the airways and, where indicated, sampling to support a diagnosis. The choice of investigations depends on the individual findings and is discussed with the patient.

He also manages chronic and acute respiratory diseases, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis and other forms of pulmonary disease, as well as pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary embolism. Lower respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia are a further area of his work. For each patient, the approach depends on the diagnosis, the severity or stage of the condition and the person’s overall health, and treatment plans are set out only after the available findings have been reviewed.

How Dr. Metintaş works with international patients

Dr. Metintaş consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as CT, X-ray, MRI or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the possible options. Video consultation is available for international patients and can be used for an initial review of records or to discuss questions before deciding whether to travel; it does not replace an in-person examination or further tests where these are needed.
