Nurgul Naurzvaı, MD

Nurgul Naurzvaı, MD is a Pulmonary Medicine specialist working in the Pulmonology unit of Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul. Dr. Naurzvaı graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2011 and completed her Chest Diseases specialty training at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine between 2015 and 2020. She began her career as a general practitioner in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (2011–2015) and at Florence Nightingale Hospital İstanbul Branch (2013–2015). In 2018 she was an Immunology Doctoral Student at İstanbul University Aziz Sancar Experimental Medicine Research Institute. From 2021 to 2023 she worked as a Chest Diseases Specialist at Acıbadem Kocaeli Hospital before taking up her current position. She is a member of the Turkish Respiratory Research Association (TÜSAD), the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR), the Mongolian Respiratory Society, the European Respiratory Society (ERS), the Irish Society for Immunology, the Turkish Immunology Association and the Türk Toraks Association (TTD). Her published work includes studies on risk factors for prolonged intensive care unit stay in patients with hypercapnic respiratory failure, the impact of neurological problems on mechanical ventilation in pulmonary intensive care patients, and case reports on severe COVID-19 pneumonia and its complications.

Clinical focus

Dr. Naurzvaı evaluates patients with a broad range of lung diseases, from chronic airway conditions such as asthma and COPD to interstitial disease such as pulmonary fibrosis. She assesses lung nodules and takes part in the diagnostic work-up of lung cancer and other thoracic cancers, using bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) where these are considered appropriate for further assessment.

Her practice also includes the assessment of pulmonary embolism and of sleep disorders, and she works within the Smoke-Free Life service for patients seeking support with stopping smoking. How Dr. Naurzvaı works with international patients

Dr. Naurzvaı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
