Prof. Dr. Özlem Dicle

Prof. Dr. Özlem Dicle is a dermatologist at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Dermatology unit and provides care for inflammatory, infectious and tumour-related skin conditions, as well as hair loss. She graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and completed her specialty training in the Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital in 1994. She has more than 36 years of experience in medicine.

After her training, Dr. Dicle worked as a specialist doctor at the Ministry of Health, Şişli Etfal Hospital, Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases (1994–1997), at İstanbul Hospital of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases (1997) and at Antalya State Hospital Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases (1997–1999). In 1999 she joined Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Dermatology, in Antalya, where she progressed from Lecturer to Assistant Professor (2000–2004), Associate Professor (2004–2010) and Prof. Dr. (2010–2018), and served as Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases from 2015 to 2018. She also held educational roles at the faculty, including Vice Chair of the Education-Training Coordination Board (2007–2012). She completed a clinical observership in Dermatological Allergy at Gülhane Military Medical Academy Haydarpaşa Training Hospital in 2005 and a clinical observership in Hair Diseases at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology, Clinical Research Center for Hair and Skin Science, in 2011. From 2018 to 2023 she practised at LİV Hospital Ulus, Dermatology Clinic, in İstanbul, before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2023. Her memberships include the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the European Hair Research Society, the International Dermoscopy Society, the International Trichoscopy Society and the Turkish Dermatology Association. Her publications cover topics such as androgenetic alopecia, cicatricial alopecias, alopecia in autoimmune blistering diseases and standard patch test results.

Clinical focus

Dr. Dicle evaluates and treats chronic inflammatory skin diseases, including psoriasis, urticaria, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis, as well as acne. A particular area of her work is hair loss treatment, including hair loss during pregnancy.

She also sees patients with infectious skin conditions such as genital herpes and genital and body warts, and assesses suspicious skin lesions, including malignant melanoma and other skin tumours. Treatment options are discussed individually after clinical examination.

How Dr. Dicle works with international patients

Dr. Dicle consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
